Lead AI Strategist
Job Description
Symphony is a global design and development software company headquartered in San Francisco, with 700+ technologists across engineering offices in Southeast Europe and Latin America, business development offices in the US and Western Europe, and a Remote hub engaging employees from Latin America to Africa and Asia. Over the last 19 years, we have launched over 300 products for the world's leading startups, enterprises, Private Equity firms, and Fortune 500 companies — helping them increase revenue, reduce time-to-market, improve end-user experiences, and scale. We have deep domain expertise across financial services, banking, retail, technology, healthcare, and the VC and PE ecosystem.
Now we are pointing that engine at agentic AI, and we are looking for the person who walks into a client's world, defines what AI value actually means for their business, and then has the engineering firepower behind them to make it real.
As an AI Strategist at Symphony, you won't stop at the recommendation. You define where AI, and specifically agentic systems, create real business value for serious clients, shape the commercial case around it, and stay close through delivery so what ships matches what you promised. You are the strategic voice in the room for PE funds, their portfolio companies, and enterprises deciding what their business becomes when AI is the architecture, not the add-on.
What would be your responsibilities if you join us?
-
Define AI value. Sit across from PE funds, portfolio-company CEOs, and enterprise leaders and identify where agentic AI creates real business value (margin, speed, new revenue) not theatre. Translate ambition into a concrete, defensible value case in the client's own numbers.
-
Shape the commercial proposition. Recommend how clients can best drive ROI from AI, and frame our engagements so they are commercially viable and clearly valuable, working alongside our Client Partners, who own the delivery relationship.
-
Stay in through delivery. Partner with Solution Architects and engineering leadership to shape the solution and ensure your strategic intent is preserved from concept through launch. You don't hand off the deck and walk away.
-
Quantify and prove it. Build the value case in the client's own numbers and the roadmap to capture it, then track outcomes and feed the learning into the next engagement.
-
Bring the frontier. Keep a sharp, current view of agentic AI and what is genuinely shippable, and bring concrete, credible examples into client conversations.
-
Keep everyone aligned. Communicate strategy, priorities, and progress clearly to client executives and internal teams alike.
There are some requirements that will make you stand out:
-
8+ years of experience in strategy consulting, AI or digital transformation, product strategy, venture building, or another senior client-facing advisory role with commercial responsibility.
-
A proven track record of turning strategy into execution, staying involved beyond recommendations to help deliver measurable business outcomes.
-
Strong commercial acumen, with experience shaping business cases, value propositions, and ROI models that secure executive buy-in. Comfortable partnering with Client Partners on opportunity development rather than owning quotas or delivery.
-
Deep understanding of AI and agentic systems, with the ability to distinguish between emerging trends and practical business applications, while confidently articulating where AI creates measurable value.
-
Practical exposure to modern AI technologies, including LLMs, retrieval systems (RAG), AI agents, workflow automation, or similar technologies, enabling you to evaluate technical feasibility and guide strategic decisions.
-
Comfortable facilitating executive discussions, leading strategy workshops, and collaborating with engineering teams to bridge business objectives with technical execution.
-
A great understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and modern product delivery, allowing you to shape technically credible strategies and ensure recommendations are grounded in what can realistically be built.
-
Strong business English, with the executive presence to influence senior stakeholders, lead high-impact discussions, and communicate complex ideas with clarity and confidence.
-
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, a technical field, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree a plus.
-
Exposure to PE-backed or enterprise environments is a strong plus.
You'll recognise yourself here if you've:
-
Defined AI, digital, or technology strategies for enterprise organizations or private equity portfolio companies that translated into measurable business outcomes.
-
Led executive workshops that aligned stakeholders, clarified complex problems, and resulted in clear strategic decisions.
-
Stayed involved beyond strategy, partnering with delivery teams to turn ideas into products, capabilities, or business transformations.
-
Built compelling business cases, value propositions, or ROI models that secured executive buy-in and successfully translated into delivery engagements.
You will easily fit into Symphony culture if you:
-
Want to shape strategy, not just execute it, and enjoy turning ambiguity into clear direction.
-
Naturally start with the business problem and use technology as the means to solve it.
-
Are curious about emerging AI capabilities and continuously invest in expanding your expertise.
-
Feel comfortable leading conversations with executives while collaborating closely with engineers and product teams.
-
Thrive in collaborative, low-ego environments where the best ideas win and success is shared.
