Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Optical Technician to join our team in Helsinki. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, alignment, testing, and maintenance of optical components and systems used in our advanced directed energy technologies. This role is crucial to ensuring the precision and performance of Thor Dynamics’ laser-based counter-drone solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, align, and calibrate optical components and systems for directed energy applications.
- Perform precision optical measurements and tests to verify system performance.
- Maintain and troubleshoot optical equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to support the development and refinement of optical systems.
- Document assembly procedures, test results, and maintenance activities.
- Handle delicate optical components with care, adhering to cleanroom and safety protocols.
- Assist in the setup and operation of the 70-acre test and demonstration facility in Helsinki.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Optics, Photonics, Physics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience working with optical systems and components.
- Proficiency in using optical alignment tools, interferometers, and other measurement equipment.
- Strong understanding of optical principles, laser systems, and photonics technologies.
- Experience with fiber optics, lenses, mirrors, and laser alignment is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Finnish is an advantage.
