Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Machine Vision Engineer to join our team in Helsinki. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced machine vision algorithms and systems that enhance Thor Dynamics’ directed energy technologies. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of our counter-drone defense solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop machine vision algorithms for object detection, tracking, and recognition.
- Integrate machine vision systems with directed energy platforms and control systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and mechanical engineers, to develop comprehensive solutions.
- Conduct performance testing and optimization of machine vision systems in real-world environments.
- Analyze and process large datasets to improve system accuracy and robustness.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in computer vision, AI, and related technologies.
- Document development processes, algorithms, and test results comprehensively.
- Support the deployment and operation of machine vision systems at the 70-acre test and demonstration facility in Helsinki.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in machine vision, computer vision, or image processing, preferably in defense, aerospace, or high-tech industries.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and frameworks like OpenCV, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Strong understanding of image processing techniques, camera calibration, and sensor integration.
- Experience with real-time systems, embedded vision, and hardware acceleration is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Finnish is an advantage.
