We're looking for a Backend Developer to join our Product team and help build the platform that powers it all.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs that power Rolla's platform.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases: modeling, querying, optimization, and ensuring data integrity at scale.
• Collaborate directly with product owners and clients to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in technical discussions with partners, supporting client-facing conversations when needed.
• Contribute to our AI-augmented development workflow - we build with AI as a core part of how we work, not as an afterthought.
• Ensure clean, well-documented code with proper testing, containerized deployments (Docker), and CI/CD practices.
• Take ownership of features end-to-end: from understanding the problem to shipping and monitoring in production.

Requirements

• Backend-First Mindset: You think in APIs, data models, and system design; not pixels.
• Hands-on Experience: 3+ years building and shipping backend systems in production environments.
• Technical Stack: Strong experience with Node.js/JavaScript and PostgreSQL. PHP (Laravel) experience is a plus.
• API Design: Proven ability to design and maintain RESTful APIs that serve real users at scale.
• DevOps Basics: Comfortable with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
• Communication: Clear, direct communicator who can explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders. Low ego, high collaboration.
• AI-Augmented Workflow: You actively use AI tools (Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) in your daily work and are excited about AI-first development - not just using AI, but building with it.
• Language Fluency: Proficient in English (B2+).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience in health, fitness, wellness, or wearable tech.
• Familiarity with TimescaleDB or time-series data.
• Frontend skills (React, Vue, or similar).
• Experience with monitoring tools like New Relic or Datadog.
• Linux/Shell proficiency and GDPR awareness.
• Experience working directly with external clients or partners.
