Sr. Manager, Pricing Intelligence

San Francisco Headquarters

Job Description

Are you ready to power the World's connections?

If you don’t think you meet all of the criteria below but are still interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box - we’re looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.

About the role:

Kong is hiring a Senior Manager, Pricing Intelligence to drive and own the analytical foundation of our monetization function. You will surface insights others miss, identify pricing problems before they escalate, and drive strategic decisions through rigorous analysis.

You'll diagnose pricing model issues, quantify revenue leakage, and translate complex data into executive recommendations. You’ll surface issues, then explain why it matters and what to do about it. This role requires influencing across sales, product, finance, and GTM teams without formal authority.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director of Pricing.

What You'll Do:

Own pricing intelligence: Become the go-to expert for data-driven pricing insights. Don't just report what happened, dig into why and what we should do differently. Surface trends and anomalies by analyzing transactional data, customer behavior, and usage patterns. Question assumptions, challenge broken metrics, and apply analytical rigor to support strategic decisions.

Hunt for revenue leakage: Analyze pricing performance across segments and products. Quantify revenue impact, identify root causes, and propose fixes. Model migration scenarios and forecast impact on customer cohorts.

Drive pricing for new products: Build frameworks for new product introductions, packaging changes, and experiments. Stress-test pricing hypotheses using CRM data, usage patterns, and financial performance.

Partner with GTM and sales: Build and maintain pricing tools (calculators, ROI models) that accelerate deal cycles, and support strategic deals to quantify value, model scenarios, and structure winning proposals.

About You:

Required:

  • 5+ years in B2B SaaS pricing, revenue operations, FP&A, or data analytics

  • Expert Excel/SQL proficiency (pivot tables, INDEX/MATCH, scenario modeling, complex queries)

  • Experience with CRM and billing systems (Salesforce, Zuora, Stripe, or similar)

  • You’re a proactive problem solver that will identify pricing issues, quantify impact, and propose solutions unprompted

  • Translate complex data into clear insights for executives and non-technical stakeholders

  • Comfortable with ambiguous, incomplete data

  • Bachelor's in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related field

Strongly preferred:

  • Pricing research methods: Van Westendorp, conjoint analysis, price elasticity modeling

  • BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Hex) or statistical programming (Python, R)

  • Prior pricing transformation or new product pricing launches

  • CPQ systems (Salesforce CPQ, DealHub, etc.)

Bonus points:

  • MBA or quantitative advanced degree

  • Consumption-based or usage-based pricing models

  • API infrastructure, developer tools, or platform businesses

  • Side projects showing quantitative curiosity (pricing models, analytics work, economics hobbies)

Why this role is unique:

Enable the AI transformation. Kong is building the platform AI connectivity. As our customers race to deploy AI at scale, our pricing must evolve to capture the value we deliver. You'll model pricing for AI-native products, quantify infrastructure and connectivity value, and build the analytical foundation for Kong's next phase of growth.
