Company Overview: Polynomial Partners is a quantitative hedge fund manager specializing in algorithmic trading strategies across global financial markets. The firm implements multiple systematic strategies created with robust quantitative research methods developed by the founding investment team over decades of prior work experience.
Position Overview: We are seeking a hungry and hands-on portfolio execution specialist to assist in effectively managing trade execution and financing transactions. The individual will be a part of a start-up environment and will have additional exposure to many areas involved in managing a hedge fund business. He or she will report to the COO and have immediate real business impact and ultimately be a material P&L owner with respect to portfolio finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the existing team in Asia with trade execution of equities, CFDs, futures, and FX across numerous markets in Asia, with handover to Europe and US as required.
- Actively participate stock loan locate process on daily basis, overseeing the automated stock locate process and
- Working with the firm's compliance team, ensure the firm's regulatory exposure is limited by knowing and navigating detailed short sale requirements across key markets
- Set up and manage an effective inventory and rate management process and toolkit for the stock borrow book
- Monitor run rate of portfolio financing costs and make suggestions or changes to financing methods to reduce drag
- Manage FX exposure within the boundaries set by the Investment Committee, overseeing the FX trade generation and execution process, overlaid with some discretionary insight into optimal cross-currency funding
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree at minimum. Experience will be more heavily weighted than formal education.
- Experience: Direct exposure to trade execution and/or any of the three relevant areas of equity portfolio finance (margin, stock loan, and Delta 1), ideally in a buy-side hedge fund environment. Programming experience is a huge plus in creating predictable and repeatable processes across a high volume strategy. Direct experience with nuanced Asia-Pacific markets relating to securities lending and market restrictions.
- Personal Fit: Communicate well both verbally and in writing in English. Balanced and approachable attitude and demeanor, so as to secure the best commercial outcome for the firm while maintaining critical counterparty relationships. A trader's mindset is helpful, with meticulous attention to detail and healthy paranoia around error prevention.
