At Anchorage Digital, we are building the foundation for the future of finance. As the Engineering Lead, Atlas, you will lead a critical engineering team at the intersection of crypto innovation and institutional-grade infrastructure. You'll own the technical vision and execution for Atlas while developing a high-performing team that ships impactful software at scale.

This is a role for a seasoned engineering leader who thrives in complexity, influences strategy, and builds the conditions for teams to do their best work. You'll partner with product, business, and engineering leadership to shape what we build and how we build it—with direct impact on Anchorage's success.

We have created the Factors of Growth & Impact to help Villagers better measure impact and articulate coaching, feedback, and the rich and rewarding learning that happens while exploring, developing, and mastering the capabilities and contributions within and outside of the Engineering Lead, Atlas role:

Technical Skills:

  • Drive broad expertise and knowledge across engineering domains, contributing to Anchorage's technical objectives and achieving goals in creative and effective ways
  • Build and maintain deep knowledge in specialized areas, serving as an internal reference and recognized leader within the engineering organization

Complexity and Impact of Work:

  • Lead through complex, ambiguous problems where fundamental principles may not fully apply, demonstrating the ability to achieve innovative breakthroughs
  • Manage final decisions on administrative and operational matters, ensuring budgets, timelines, and priorities align with both team and company objectives
  • Own the technical output of the team, including product and platform features, with decisions that have long-term impact on Anchorage's success

Organizational Knowledge:

  • Collaborate actively with different groups across Anchorage to work on global strategy and identify new ways to deliver upon it
  • Deliver a shared understanding of Anchorage's needs to rally teams, engaging with peers to develop methods and evaluation criteria with company-wide impact

Communication and Influence:

  • Listen and communicate complex issues clearly and credibly across a wide range of audiences, adapting communication strategy to persuade diverse stakeholders
  • Contribute thoughtful leadership on broader organization programs and projects, building effective relationships with stakeholders including clients, team managers, and cross-functional partners

You may be a fit for this role if you have:

  • 12+ years of relevant engineering experience, including significant experience leading and scaling engineering teams
  • A track record of successfully managing medium to large teams, delivering results of significant scope, influence, and impact
  • Experience leading through ambiguity—translating business strategy into actionable plans and guiding execution in complex, fast-moving environments
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent, coach managers and senior engineers, and build psychologically safe, high-performing teams
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to articulate clear strategy, influence stakeholders, and drive alignment across teams
  • Real-world experience building complex distributed systems (we mostly use Go, but languages can be learned—we care about your engineering and management skills)
  • You've maintained a "player-coach" skillset and feel comfortable conducting live technical programming interviews and reviewing pull requests
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams, working cross-functionally across varying time zones

Although not a requirement, bonus points if:

  • Experience in crypto, blockchain, or fintech infrastructure at scale
  • Background in the finance industry and traditional finance settlement operations
  • Professional experience with Go/Rust/TypeScript/Solidity
  • You were emotionally moved by the soundtrack to Hamilton, which chronicles the founding of a new financial system. :)
