We are seeking a top-tier AI Application Engineer with strong architectural thinking, deep AI/ML knowledge, and robust software development skills to help design, build, and deploy intelligent systems that power adaptive learning pathways, personalized practice sequences, insightful educator tools, and data-driven improvements, all grounded in learning science and built with the highest standards of safety, privacy, and educational efficacy. This role is about building systems at scale that meet students where they are and helps them learn with joy.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a key engineer shaping the technical foundation of AI capabilities across our interactive learning and entertainment platform.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, learning science, and design teams to define efficacious AI features.

• Design, prototype, and ship AI-driven features across the entire Level platform. We value "velocity to learning" over "perfection in a vacuum."

• Work closely with stakeholders to translate AI capabilities into tangible outcomes. Contribute to providing architectural guidance on AI systems, ensuring scalability and alignment with educational goals.

• Ensure AI features are always built to respect data privacy and comply with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Engineering Background: Proven track record as an engineer, with a strong foundation in software development and AI/ML technologies. Strong engineering foundation (formal or autodidact).

• Shipping Experience: Hands-on experience shipping AI or software products from conception to deployment. Commercial success is not required but we value the lessons learned from real-world implementation.

• AI Expertise: Deep knowledge of AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), machine learning models, and their applications. Familiarity with Edtech-specific AI use cases is a plus.

• Problem-Solving Mindset: Strong analytical skills with a passion for tackling complex challenges in education through technology.

Bonus Points

• Experience in Edtech or education-related AI projects.

• Knowledge of ethical AI, data governance, and accessibility in learning tools.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) for AI deployment.

• Excellent communication skills to articulate AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
